Schedule of Classes, Summer ‘06Grades 8-10
Additional Information:
Students will do four writing assignments, one per week. These will consist of: one narrative, one persuasive, one response to literature, one rewrite (or alternate assignment if rewriting seems unnecessary). Each week will include grammar and vocabulary topics.
The beginning and intermediate summer classes will be arranged as follows:
Weeks 1-3: The class will meet together for the first three weeks. Students should expect to complete most or all of writing assignment at home, as class time is used in discussion of topics and writing techniques, writing exercises, grammar, etc. Students will also be instructed in use of Microsoft Word advanced editing functions.
Week 4: The fourth week (marked on the schedule with an asterisk * ) we will not meet as a group. The students will receive their assignments via email. They will also submit their completed writing and receive the teacher’s comments back via email. Microsoft Word advanced editing functions will be put to practical use.
